In Irkutsk there is an active group of parents and teachers that have various practical initiatives in teaching and healing Waldorf pedagogy. There is a 9-year-old Waldorf school, two medical schools, two social therapeutic village initiatives and an anthroposophically oriented medical group. Several of these activities have been in existence for over 10 years, and Irkutsk is seen as a role model in many other places in Russia, especially in medical education and social therapy. 

The East-West Group of SOFIA has mainly helped to build the medical education seminary education. Today those involved in the Irkutsk seminar are very experienced and competent, and they can now go out more with the regional courses and training.
