SEDDIEL cooperation
SEDDIEL (f.d. GARL), Rio Limpio, Dominic Republic
GARL was formed in 1985 (but registered in 1992) as a local organization dedicated to promoting an integrated, organic and sustainable rural development. GARL reorganized and was renamed SEDDIEL in 2006.
The business consists primarily of environmentally friendly projects, micro-projects, the management of donated property, ecotourism and educational activities in the PCE - Programa Cultural Educativo. In Rio Limpio, the PCE works maily to help children and adolescents from four nearby villages. Ecotourism provides the necessary revenue to fund the educational activities.
Målgruppen för PCE är barn och ungdomar i Rio Limpio samt från fyra närliggande byar.
Building and many years of managing a credit fund has led to an independent, legalized cooperative bank. Large amounts of construction was completed during the 1980’s and 1990’s, resulting in the establishment of the

The Working Group on Rural Development, the AFL, and the SOFIA Association has supported GARL / SEDDIEL with SIDA grants, expertise, volunteers and trainees for about 20 years, but as of 2008, the project will not receive any further grants. However, cooperation with youth trainees continues.
Arbetsgruppen för Landsbygdsutveckling, AFL, inom SOFIA har stött GARL/SEDDIEL med Sidabidrag, experthjälp, volontärer och praktikanter under ca 20 år, men fr.o.m. 2008 ges inga mer bidrag. Samarbetet kring ungdomspraktikanter fortsätter dock.
