The Manjai Kunda Group in Sweden began in the early 2000’s to support a kindergarten initiative in Manja Kunda near Serrekunda place on the coast of Gambia. The Kindergarten was about to be lost when the old initiative passed away, but through the mentoring system, which the group built up, the kindergarten survived and even evolved since then.

The Swedish project team has many members with an interest in Waldorf education. These members’ 'knowledge and experience’ can serve as an inspiration for the parents' association's efforts to give parents and children a creative education in a self-sufficient, environmentally conscious school, as well as support the social aid that the association provides for single, young mothers and families without relatives in the vicinity due to relocation to find work close to tourist resorts ..

The group has organized Sida supported exchanges with teachers and school personnel from Gambia, and various teachers from Sweden. They offer the opportunity to be a mentor to one of the children in Manjai Kunda and thus contribute to their schooling. Please contact Manjai Kunda group of questions and interest!
